Laning Phase & Trading

Trading Pattern

Yunara's laning is all about managing her Q stacks. Focus on last-hitting minions to build stacks safely. When your Q is fully stacked (the icon will glow), you have a significant power spike. This is your window to trade. Look to slow the enemy with W, then use the empowered Q to deal heavy damage. Avoid extended trades when your Q is not stacked.

Teamfight Positioning

Positioning is Key

As a traditional marksman, Yunara is fragile. In teamfights, your primary goal is to stay alive. Position yourself behind your frontline tanks and supports. Use your normal E for minor repositioning. Save your ultimate (R) for the crucial moment when the fight breaks out. Once you activate R, use your empowered E dash to either dodge a key threat or to chase down a high-priority target. Your empowered Q provides significant AoE damage, so try to hit as many enemies as possible.

Counters & Synergies

Tough Matchups (Counters)

Handling tough matchups often comes down to mastering your core trading patterns. Review our Core Trading Combo before engaging.

  • Nilah: Her dodge invalidates your burst.Strategy: Wait for her to use her W, then trade. Never all-in when her dodge is available. Your goal is to poke, not to commit.
  • Ziggs / Kog'Maw: Their long range prevents you from safely stacking Q.Strategy: Concede lane priority if needed and focus on farming under tower. Ask your jungler for ganks, as they are immobile.
  • Jinx / Zeri: Their high mobility makes your skillshots (W) hard to land.Strategy: Don't lead with W. Wait for them to use their mobility spell, then use your W to guarantee a slow and a follow-up combo.

How to Play Against Yunara

  • Deny her Q stacks: This is her main source of power. Harass her when she tries to auto-attack minions.
  • Bait out her R: Her ultimate is her main teamfight tool. If you can force her to use it early or defensively, her impact will be significantly reduced.
  • Hard engage and burst: Despite her mobility, she is still a squishy marksman. Champions who can lock her down and burst her quickly are very effective.

Strong Allies (Synergies)

  • Lulu / Janna: Enchanters who provide peel and buffs.Synergy: Lulu's 'Whimsy' can neutralize a diver, while Janna's ultimate can reset a bad fight, giving you a second chance to position correctly.
  • Braum / Leona: Engage tanks with reliable crowd control.Synergy: When Leona lands her combo, it's a guaranteed kill window for you. Braum's shield allows you to safely deal damage from the backline.
  • Jarvan IV / Sejuani: Lockdown junglers.Synergy: Jarvan's 'Cataclysm' creates a perfect arena for your AoE damage, while Sejuani's ultimate provides the long-duration stun needed for you to unleash your full R-empowered combo.
